Public Service Loan Forgiveness Locals Webinars
In October 2021, the Department of Education announced an overhaul of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. Millions of public sector workers who have been struggling under the weight of student loan debt now have a path to relief, including Teamsters. Borrowers who were previously ineligible because they had the wrong loan, were making payments on the wrong payment plan, or were knocked off track due to processing errors can now receive credit toward forgiveness for those years worked in public service.
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the Student Borrower Protection Center have partnered to provide Teamster members with information on student debt relief through the PSLF waiver. The actions that student loan borrowers need to take will vary depending on their circumstances. This new policy is only in effect through October 31, 2022 so please take action soon!
